The story of Alan Kurdi, a young Syrian refugee whose image made headlines worldwide after drowning on September 2nd, 2015 in the Mediterranean Sea, was almost too painful to be told. Nevertheless this is the starting point for “Alan e il mare”. This show tries to describe to a young audience this tragical event not only through reports and memories of his father, but also by opening a passage to dreams and imagining a tomorrow that was not possible to be. From the moment Alan falls into the water he will not die but he will become a brother for algae and coral, a so called child-fish. That is the reason why the actor will appear behind the backdrop, which eventually turns into an aquarium trough video-projections. The black wooden structure of the backdrop houses plastic sheets, made out of different types of PVC. Through special lights and fog effect Alan will come from the Sea to the Human world once more to spend new adventures with his father.
